- Do not befriend a liar: He will present good as evil and evil as good to you.
- Do not befriend a miser: He will not hesitate to sell you out for a single morsel of food.
- Do not befriend a fool: He will unknowingly entangle you in trouble and bring you harm.
- Do not keep companionship with one who habitually curses: One day, he will inevitably turn around and curse you as well.
- Do not befriend someone who praises you to your face: He is bound to criticize and insult you one day.
The best person to choose as a companion is someone who possesses Taqwa (piety and consciousness of Allah).
