On the day of Eid, at the time of Fajr (dawn), Allah Almighty sends angels to all the towns on earth. They descend to the earth, stand at the entrances of the pathways, and call out loudly:
“O Ummah (followers) of Muhammad (peace be upon him)! Proceed toward the presence of the Most Generous Lord! He is the Bestower of great bounties! He is the Magnificent! He is the Forgiver of sins!”
Except for humans and jinn, all other creations hear this call.
The Reward for the Workers
Later, when the people proceed toward the Eidgah (the prayer ground), Allah Almighty asks the angels:
“What is the reward for a laborer once he has completed his work?”
The angels reply: “O our Lord! His reward is that his wages be paid to him in full.”
Allah Almighty then declares:
“O My angels! I make you witnesses that in return for My servants fasting during the month of Ramadan and standing in prayer at night, I have granted them My pleasure and My forgiveness.”
The Divine Promise
Thereafter, Allah Almighty addresses His servants:
“O My servants! Ask of Me. By My Honor and My Majesty! Whatever you ask of Me today in this gathering of yours regarding your Hereafter, I will surely grant it to you. And whatever you ask regarding your worldly matters, I will look into what is beneficial for you.
By My Honor! As long as you remember My commands and live by them, I will conceal your faults. By My Honor and My Majesty! I will not disgrace you in front of the sinners and the polytheists. Now, return as forgiven ones. You have pleased Me, and I am well-pleased with you.”
The Prophet (peace be upon him) stated that the angels rejoice and convey glad tidings upon seeing the magnificent reward that Allah Almighty bestows upon this Ummah on the day they complete the month of Ramadan and celebrate Eid al-Fitr.
