1. Supplication to be Recited when Starting the Journey
Arabic:
سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هُذَا وَமَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ وَإِنَّا إِلى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ
Meaning:
“Glory be to Allah Who has brought this (vehicle) under our control, though we were unable to do so by our own power. And indeed, to our Lord we shall surely return.”
Then, after saying ‘Alhamdulillah’ (Praise be to Allah) three times, and ‘Allahu Akbar’ (Allah is the Greatest) three times, recite:
Arabic:
سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي فَاغْفِرْ فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ
Meaning:
“O Allah! Glory be to You. Indeed, I have wronged myself, so forgive me; for surely, no one forgives sins except You.”
After that, recite:
Arabic:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَسْتَلْكَ فِي سَفَرِنَا هَذَ الْبِيِّ وَالتَّقْوَى وَمِنَ الْعَمَلِ مَا تَرْضَى اللَّهُم هَوْنَ عَلَيْنَا سَفَرَنَا هَذَا وَأَطُولَنَا بُعْدَةً اللهم أنتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْخَلِيفَةُ في الأَهْلِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعَثَاءِ السَّفَرِ وَكَابَةِ الْمَنْظَرِ وَسُوءِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ فِي الْمَالِ وَالْأَهْلِ وَالْحَوْرِ بَعْدَ الْكَوْرِ وَدَعْوَتِ الْمَظْلُومِ
Meaning:
“O Allah! We ask You on this journey of ours for goodness, piety, and actions that please You. O Allah! Make this journey easy for us and shorten its distance. O Allah! You are our Companion on the journey and the Caretaker of our family.
O Allah! I seek refuge in You from the hardships of travel, from distressing sights, and from an evil return regarding wealth and family. I also seek refuge in You from witnessing misfortune in my household and wealth upon returning, from falling into regression after progression, and from the curse of the oppressed.”
2. Supplication When Disembarking from the Vehicle
Arabic:
رَبِّ أَنْزِلْنِي مُنْزَلًا مُبَارَكًا وَانْتَ خَيْرُ المُنْزِلِينَ
Meaning:
“O my Lord! Cause me to disembark at a blessed landing place, for You are the best of those who bring to land.”
3. Supplication When Returning and Entering the Town
Arabic:
آيِبُونَ ، تَائِبُونَ ، عَابِدُونَ ، لِرَبِّنَا حَامِدُونَ
Meaning:
“We return, repenting, worshipping, and praising our Lord.”
